Back at home… AH yes I’ve been soakin up the Colorado weather for the past few days and working to get stuff done before my grand trip to the west. YAY for grand trips to the west!! But before I hit the road I’ve been “enjoying” my trip back to dialup. So yeah, be very impressed that I took the time to update the photo gallery. hehheh, nothin quite like waiting 10 min for 13 pictures to upload. I guess it just makes you savor your browsing experience… or something like that. Internet connection aside it has been lots of fun to be w/ my family again and boy do I sure get a lot of family! Grandpa and Grandma Brunk are staying with us in preparation for my mom’s upcoming surgery. Plus getting in time with the cousins soon not to be just down the road. So yeah, things have been full… but things have been good.
Now to the randomness, aka fun. Granted, I don’t always fully enjoy the tastes of The Onion but sometimes they just get things right LOL. (photo 7’s also pretty great) Also, Beth was pointing me to quite a few random things over at blogthings.com and I was happy and sad to learn just how much I can identify with some of these things. ok ok, so I was mostly pretty thrilled, hehheh. In any case, if not a valuable use of time, it’s at least fun.
Big updates here people… I posted a whopping 3 new pictures from my dad’s camera taken at Beth’s graduation from Hesston. Check ‘em out. Captions to come once I round up Jeff’s pictures.

Yup, I’ve only got 3 days of May Term left!! YESSSSS! That means that come thursday I’ll be on my way home and after a week or so there off to CA to stay w/ Beth & her family! In case you haven’t noticed I’m QUITE pumped about this summer and to celebrate the occasion I decided to delay slightly from starting on my final 9 page paper for my Senior Seminar and instead ready kuhnsfam for the summer. Those of you who don’t care for web-design please skip to the next paragraph for entertainment. (I warned you) For those who DO care, I’ve been serving the images for the photos section of the site from Auriga, the trusty ‘ol quicksilver G4 in my dorm room that I use for day-to day work as well. Now as I pack for the summer and Auriga will no longer have access to high-speed internet, or any internet at all for that matter it was time for a change. So as of today photo serving has been graciously passed to Guapo, the resurrected lime iMac I inherited as I left Hesston. He may not be top of the line but he sure purrs as a server running YellowDog. In any case, I’m leaving Guapo on campus so that hopefully you all (and I) can keep looking at my photos all summer long.
Phew, now that I’ve got all that technical babble out of the way on to the true fun. I remember way back in the day when I was introduced to the wonder of cell phone text messaging and marveled at how hard it was to type ANYTHING on a phone. Well, time has passed and as a proud member of the cellular world I too make good use of text messaging. However, I’ve never been a huge fan typing on my phone and now I have PROOF that phones as text sending devices do indeed… well… just STINK. So read about this great text messaging challenge and rest assured that even as we take great bounds into the wonders of the golden age of technology age, there’s still something just plain handy about the past.

Well, I haven’t gotten in new grad pictures yet and I’m sure most of you have given up on ever seeing a working Gallery or About Me page on this site… but wait, I have valid excuses now! That’s right, after genuinely procrastinating those improvements for months I have now come up with valid reasons why they haven’t gotten done The reason: my life is currently so filled with PHP & html that any more time spent coding and my head might seriously implode! Ok ok ok, so maybe it’s not quite THAT bad, but I am currently working on a number of web projects that along with May Term novel reading are keeping me quite busy. I’m working on two sites at the moment.
I got an internship with Family Services of Elkhart County last semester and have now managed to drag out the process of earning my one credit-hour internship credit over half a semester, May Term, and probably a little into the summer if I’m not careful! Their current website is a BIT on the outdated side so Andy Graber and I are completely re-vamping it. New graphics, new photos, new content, the whole shebang. For the next while you can see the work in progress and again, I’m not exactly sure WHEN I’ll manage to finish this one off.
On a slightly more controlled schedule, I got myself involved in designing mPress Online. For this year’s Mennonite Convention in Charlotte Goshen is in charge of producing the daily newspaper and I am the official webmaster of the project. So it has been my task to get a site up and running that is not only purdy, but easy to quickly post daily updates onto. So come July I’m catching a plane with Beth and heading east to the convention. Then every night I’ll be handed a pile of stories and photos and will compile all of that onto mPress Online so that by the time all conventionites rise they will be able to wake not only to fresh convention newspapers, but their far away friends can also surf the same news. A novel idea, we’ll see how much work it actually turns out being. As a plug for Mennonite.net I’m also using Caravel which is an interesting content management system (aka, easy-bake website) program being developed here at GC. It has proved to be quite the experience so far. In any case, altho you won’t be able to see much of the site now definitely check it out once convention rolls around, it should be quite the happening site!

Hi all! Well what are the odds, another update within a week! Impressive hu? As I mentioned earlier I did indeed make the trip to Hesston this past weekend to take in Beth’s graduation. Along for the celebration were a lot of Beth’s family: Jeff, Debbie, Jordan, Celina, Jacob, her Grandma, and Aunt. My family came out too, well Mom, Dad, and Grandma Kuhns anyway. Of course with this many people around I actually ended up having some pictures in the end which was cool! So definitely check out the photos. I’ll be getting even more in over the coming days once my family and Beth’s family send me the pictures they each took. I’ll keep you posted on that progress. On the whole the weekend was quite tiring but WELL worth it as I got to not only enjoy time with Beth, but also with our families. And how can I possibly complain about the great meals (thanks again to the parents!!) Now Beth is safe and sound at home and I’m back to the grind finishing off these last 8 days of May Term. Wish me luck as I try to finish off all of this class craziness.

Well, it’s been a little while since I’ve updated my site so under increasing pressure I’ve decided to give it a whirl and actually let everyone know what’s going on. Busyness. Since I last posted I’ve listened to Cantus, had a CRAZY finals week (and what finals week is complete with out at least one all-nighter? ), traveled to Hesston and back (YAY for more awesome weekends!), turned 21, started my May Term class, and took in a John McCutcheon concert! How’s that for some happenings? So there’s the abridged version.
My May Term class is a study of ethics and morality in computing which is proving to be quite interesting. I mean, aside from the fact that most of the class is quite subjective, the topics are definitely thought provoking. The only unforeseen aspect of the class is the reading load. Granted, it’s nothing extraordinary per-se, but coming from two semesters of almost NO reading and only 3 or 4 papers, this is quite a lunge in the opposite direction. Luckily it’s cool reading because the last week of class consists of reading and discussing Society of the Mind, a sci-fi novel… computer science profs sure know how class should be done!
New on the horizon… another trip to Hesston!!! This time for Beth’s graduation on the 8th. Luckily it looks like there will be plenty of family photographers around. So unless I am overwhelmingly unmotivated keep an eye out for new photos in the somewhat near future.
