The crazyness that is now
Well, I haven’t gotten in new grad pictures yet and I’m sure most of you have given up on ever seeing a working Gallery or About Me page on this site… but wait, I have valid excuses now! That’s right, after genuinely procrastinating those improvements for months I have now come up with valid reasons why they haven’t gotten done
The reason: my life is currently so filled with PHP & html that any more time spent coding and my head might seriously implode! Ok ok ok, so maybe it’s not quite THAT bad, but I am currently working on a number of web projects that along with May Term novel reading are keeping me quite busy. I’m working on two sites at the moment.
I got an internship with Family Services of Elkhart County last semester and have now managed to drag out the process of earning my one credit-hour internship credit over half a semester, May Term, and probably a little into the summer if I’m not careful! Their current website is a BIT on the outdated side so Andy Graber and I are completely re-vamping it. New graphics, new photos, new content, the whole shebang. For the next while you can see the work in progress and again, I’m not exactly sure WHEN I’ll manage to finish this one off.
On a slightly more controlled schedule, I got myself involved in designing mPress Online. For this year’s Mennonite Convention in Charlotte Goshen is in charge of producing the daily newspaper and I am the official webmaster of the project. So it has been my task to get a site up and running that is not only purdy, but easy to quickly post daily updates onto. So come July I’m catching a plane with Beth and heading east to the convention. Then every night I’ll be handed a pile of stories and photos and will compile all of that onto mPress Online so that by the time all conventionites rise they will be able to wake not only to fresh convention newspapers, but their far away friends can also surf the same news. A novel idea, we’ll see how much work it actually turns out being. As a plug for Mennonite.net I’m also using Caravel which is an interesting content management system (aka, easy-bake website) program being developed here at GC. It has proved to be quite the experience so far. In any case, altho you won’t be able to see much of the site now definitely check it out once convention rolls around, it should be quite the happening site!
