Well, one more blog post before I head to camp. This evening has been SO long! Beth is finally home which is awesome! But before that I managed to watch nearly 5 hours of Lord of the Rings: Fellowship of the Ring special features. Yeah, there is a LOT of stuff in those extra disks, holy COW. The crazy part is that I’m not even completely finished watching it all. But it wasn’t all viewing pleasure. In the meantime I cut out lil covers for craft journal/book things using a utility knife. They’re for a craft up at camp sometime this coming week. oooOOOoooo, and I also had Chipotle and Rocky Ford cantaloupe for supper, a high quality combo if you ask me. Ok, enough rambling, now I’m gonna caption some pictures from the East Coast until I get a phone call
Well, today has been amazingly busy so far and we’ll just have to see if it lets up or not. I’ve had a pretty good variety of actual work (trash, mowing the lawn) and fun work (I’ll get to that soon) tho so that’s always nice. My main project for the day has been dismantling my car to make my iPod work better! Not that I could improve on Apple’s design or anything, but I HAVE had in mind a while a method of trying to get my iTrip to transmit better. After a quick trip to Sunshine Car Audio they showed me a nifty fm modulators that they had on hand and I decided to go for it. Now, I haven’t done any REAL testing yet (like driving through Chicago), but my initial impression is pretty good! Others might argue that there are better ways to go, but I’m not quite ready to drop $200 on a new stereo just to get line-in and now I can even plug in Beth’s iPod or a CD player (yeah, like anyone uses THOSE things anymore ) without a hitch which is cool.
In other news, Beth gets home from Keola today!!! She’s been doing the counselor thing this past week and I’m definitely looking forward to a night of chatting before I head to RMMC and loose MY reception! Unfortunately as luck would have it I just got a call from Beth a few minutes back and apparently the bus she’s riding home broke down so now she’s gonna be a few hours behind schedule… grrrrrrrr. Regardless, It will be good to know when she’s safe and sound at home. As for me, I’m headed to Family Camp III that my parents have directed for the past few years. It’s a REAL fun time in the mountains for sure and as long as my parents can battle off the stress of planning a little longer everything should go over just fine. Yeah, and if anyone has a spare ticket from Ontario International to the Springs that they wouldn’t mind donating that would just make Camp perfect! Ok, now I’m off to do a few more chores, later all!

Yeah, this is what happens when I have WAY too much free time on my hands. kuhnsfam.com actually gets updates! lol. I’ve gone and finally added the long unlinked About Me page. Now you too can learn everything you wanted to know about me without even MEETING me! Well, almost… but not really. In any case, enjoy what I’ve got so far and I’m sure I’ll be updating that page now and again.

A minor change, but it’s been on my mind for a while and now I’ve actually done it! When the first Kuhnsfam.com banner ended up looking very wintery (a purely unintentional but cool effect) I have always kinda wanted to make season-themed banners to switch things up a bit. Now I’ve finally got a summer one… just in time to be replaced by a yet to be created fall theme. The summer banner is inspired by my time in California this summer and the mountain is a rendition of Mt. Baldy as seen from Beth’s house. Also finally phased out is the long-unused “Gallery” portion of the website. Maybe some day I’ll try to get my gallery of digital artwork back online, but no go for now. The About Me section SHOULD be forthcoming… I hope. Welcome to summer everybody!

Well, things are more exciting here in the Springs. Grandma Kuhns has been staying with us the past week and now for the next 2 days her siblings are staying with us too. So beds are packed but it’s good conversations galore … it all evens out in the end. To top off all this excitement, I even squeezed in enough time to get some pictures from my trip with Beth to the east coast online! (yeah, I know, I got spoiled with travel this summer) So check out the pictures of the east and I’ll even get them captioned here pretty soon, sound like a deal? good!PS - for those who haven’t checked them out yet… see those handy “links” on the left? Yeah, those are mostly blogging friends of mine. If you wanna see a few photos that put mine to shame check out Dan Horst’s blog.

At long last… a whopping 3 days after I got home the photos from my summer in California are finally online! Now, there’s plenty of things I didn’t get pictures of and maybe at some point I’ll share more stories from the summer here but for now you can at least check out the pictures.

After most of the summer has now passed I’ve come to realize that I’m not going to get more pictures from Hesston’s Grad so I’ve gone ahead and captioned those photos finally. I’m gonna try to get summer pictures up and running within a week.

Yup, I’m trying this post for no other reason that the fact that I can. But what makes it fun is that I’m posting from Gallup, NM… on my own computer… in an Econo Lodge. Isn’t that great? Ok, so the background story isn’t as pleasant as it may at first sound. Yesterday I started my trip home from CA :-(. Going home may seem like a cool thing but when it involves leaving Beth again after spending a month with her, and after a year of long distance before that, is just NOT fun. I really will enjoy being back with my family, and there are fun times ahead at family camp, but for now… yeah, leaving stinks! *sigh* now back to the original story. So, I was driving home and decided to stop for the night in Gallup and lo and behold the motel advertised “free broadband internet.” So, being as I had my (desktop) computer with me I decided to take advantage of the offer. Yeah, it did feel kinda awkward carrying my 19″ monitor through the hotel lobby, but in the end it was well worth the effort. Ok, enough ranting for now. Keep smiling Beth, ok? Once I get home I’ll do my best to get some photos up from my time in CA and out east this summer.

Well, time CERTAINLY does fly. It’s now another month without a post and I am now officially no longer in California. dang! But it’s not as gloomy as it may sound because now I’m in Charlotte, NC hanging out w/ a whole ton of Mennonites. That’s right, it’s that time of every other year that we like to call Mennonite Convention. Again, I’m designing the official mPress Online site for the daily newspaper so that’s been cool if not hectic and lastminuteish. And Beth is still here so it’s been REAL fun to hang out w/ here and meet just a few of the many… many many many people from the church that she knows. Oh yeah, and my parents are here with our youth group too so I even get to be with them a little. So yeah, on the whole yay for lots of Mennonites hanging out and giving away free things Till next time, peace
