Aren’t politics so fun?
Well, not that I’ve become excessively politically aware or anything, but I’ve been reading BBC news a lot more recently and sometimes the articles I stumble across just make me think. For example the article about Bush asking for a bathroom break during the UN World summit. Come on man, can’t you plan ahead! Then the other day I found an article: FEMA Foible about how FEMA’s online application form for emergency relief only works for people with Internet Explorer 6.0 or greater, meaning people who use Macs, or Linux are out of luck (not to mention Windows users who’ve switch fully to Firefox). This also had me kinda ticked, why design a site that only works for some people?? It’s not THAT hard to make a site that works for different browsers!
Except that then I let myself cool down a bit. In reality, why am I getting so worked up about things like this. Granted, it’s fun to poke fun at Bush which is why so many satire sites picked up on this. But really we all know that Everybody Poops and the only reason I might care is because I have a personal beef with him? And about FEMA and their little website situation, I read some comments at This Is Broken that really made sense. This form originally was meant for internal use (where unfortunately they all use IE on PCs) and was only made public after Katrina to help people get the aid they need asap. And if you really think about it, right now FEMA has a LOT more pressing issues on it’s hands than updating it’s website. So maybe this is what I’m coming to… Yeah, it’s definitely fun to pick on other people’s slip-ups, but really, if It’s not a big deal, take it easy!

Yup, you can even use smileys
if you want. Almost every standard MSN and AIM smiley is available. When in doubt, use the MSN text. One more thing, noses are a must [ aka :-) not :) ] and case is irrelevant.
