Digikitten initiation & SO much more

Just a quick bit of fun to begin this post with. As I’ve mentioned before I’m been getting more involved in an online community of digital artists/photographers at Digikitten and recently I submitted my first piece! :-D Juxtapose - Novembe 2005 Twisted Pixel by metavida You can see the whole competition by clicking the picture.

Aside from online activity this past weekend turned out to be pretty fun. Saturday night Beth & I went to Much Ado About Nothing, put on by the Goshen Theatre Department. The play was based on the Shakespeare play and used Shakespearian speech but was performed in the context of a big game (eg tag, tennis, kickball). But that description really doesn’t do the play justice at all! The set was incredibly open and the actors used the entire theatre to act in including the isles. Leonato (Ben Jacobs) even gave me a shock by including me in a little audience participation! :-p

Then came Sunday, time for the huge Goshen choir/orchestra bash. This year instead of traveling elsewhere we performed in Sauder and then performed in conjunction with the Goshen High School choir and orchestra. All told there were about 110 in the orchestra and over 170 in the choir! We performed the 4th movement of Beethoven’s 9th (aka Ode to Joy) and Carl Orff’s Carmina Burana. Both are pretty huge pieces and having that many people in the choir let us make HUGE sound :-) We performed the pieces twice the same day, once at 4 & then again at 7:30 so by the time the second performance was over my voice was nearly shot. On the whole tho it was a good experience and they are definitely fun pieces to sing with a live orchestra!

To end, a quick happy birthday to kuhnsfam.com. Now officially a year old, ain’t it cute! ;-) <:o)
